Glen Echo, MD – The Washington Conservatory of Music invites music enthusiasts aged 13 and above to embark on a musical journey with the Advanced Beginners Irish Flute and Tin Whistle Class. This combined class caters to those with a basic understanding of the instruments, including knowledge of fingering, simple scales, and tunes.

Instructor Tina Eck will guide participants through the exploration of the rich and predominantly aural tradition of Irish music. The curriculum includes learning Irish tunes by ear, encompassing jigs, reels, hornpipes, and polkas. Participants will delve into various aspects such as fingering, ornamentation, breath control, intonation, basic repertoire, and receive listening recommendations.
To participate, attendees are required to bring their Irish flute or tin whistle in the key of D, along with a recording device to capture the melodic journey. The class spans 10 sessions, providing ample time for skill development and musical exploration.
Tuition: The cost of the class is $240, in addition to a $15 registration fee for Glen Echo Park.
