Atrocity and Leaves’ Eyes, both founded by frontman Alex Krull, have announced a significant change in their lineup:
“We are pleased to introduce Florian Ewert as the newest guitarist to join the Atrocity and Leaves’ Eyes family. Florian recently shared the stage with us at NADA Fest in Portugal, delivering an exceptional performance. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our longtime bandmate Micki for his years of dedication and contribution to Atrocity and Leaves’ Eyes. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors, including his new role with Eisbrecher.”
Micki Richter reflected on his departure: “To all the fans and supporters of Leaves’ Eyes and Atrocity, after over seven years of playing and composing with these bands, I have decided to embark on a new journey. It was a difficult decision, as I have cherished countless unforgettable moments and met remarkable people along the way. I am deeply grateful to everyone who has supported me and the bands throughout this incredible experience. Your passion has always been our driving force. Thank you for the wonderful memories and shared experiences.”
He continued, “My journey leads me to Eisbrecher, where I am excited to embrace new challenges and musical adventures. I have full confidence that Atrocity and Leaves’ Eyes will continue to thrive and create outstanding music in the future. Florian Ewert, an outstanding musician and a fantastic person, will succeed me on guitar. Having known him for several years, I am certain he is the perfect fit for this role. Please join me in welcoming him warmly. See you at future concerts and events! Rock on, see you soon!”
Florian Ewert expressed his enthusiasm: “My debut with Atrocity at NADA Music Fest in Portugal was incredible. Performing songs from the Okkult Trilogy and the legendary Hallucinations & Todessehnsucht albums was an exhilarating experience. I eagerly anticipate playing with Leaves’ Eyes as well. My admiration for Tosso’s playing since seeing Leaves’ Eyes live in 2007 has been a great source of inspiration for me. It is an honor to follow in the footsteps of such esteemed guitarists as Tosso and Micki. I look forward to collaborating with the Atrocity and Leaves’ Eyes family and meeting fans around the world.”
Leaves’ Eyes recently captivated audiences with a dynamic Viking-themed performance on the Louder Stage at Wacken Open Air 2023. Check out the professionally-shot footage of “Chain of the Golden Horn,” “Across the Sea,” and “Blazing Waters” below.
