Mario Gonzalez, a Tejano drummer and stroke survivor, found renewed hope and ability to play the drums again with the help of DHR Health.
Previously told elsewhere that recovery was impossible following his stroke, Gonzalez turned to DHR Health’s Neuro Therapy Institute. Through dedicated occupational therapy, Gonzalez regained mobility in his affected hand and arm, achieving a significant milestone by recording a new song.
Teaming up with his cousin, Tejano singer Frankie Cabello Jr., Gonzalez contributed to the remake of “Dile Tu Marido,” a tribute to the original rendition.
Reflecting on his journey, Gonzalez expressed gratitude: “I’m very happy that my cousin Frankie Cabello Jr. pushed me back into the studio. If it were up to me, I might have delayed, but his insistence motivated me to practice and complete the recording.”
Currently, Gonzalez and his cousin are actively collaborating on a second musical project.
