Brian Gore, known as the “Guitar Poet,” will be performing at Lost Chord Guitars in Solvang on Thursday, September 19. Gore, who began exploring poetry in his youth and later developed a passion for fingerstyle guitar, has become a renowned professional musician. His unique style blends his literary background with his guitar playing, leading him to found International Guitar Night, a celebrated touring guitar troupe.

Joining Gore for the performance is Jim “Kimo” West, a Grammy-winning guitarist famous for his mastery of Hawaiian slack key guitar. West is also known for his long-time collaboration with “Weird Al” Yankovic.

“I started writing poetry and delved into instrumental guitar when I was about 17,” Gore, now based in Portland, Oregon, said. “A significant tip from Alex DeGrassi helped me merge poetry with guitar melodies, shaping my unique style.”

Gore’s music, described as “alternative folk,” features fingerstyle playing, which involves plucking the strings with the fingertips, fingernails, or picks, rather than the flat pick used by many popular guitarists. His dedication to this technique has been pivotal in his career.

Gore also launched International Guitar Night (IGN), which began as a local Bay Area project and has since evolved into a touring phenomenon. IGN is gearing up for its 25th anniversary tour in early 2025.

In addition to his performances, Gore’s debut album, “Seek The Love You’re Yearning,” is available on his website, guitarpoet.com, and on platforms like Amazon, Spotify, and Apple Music.

Jim “Kimo” West, known for his versatility and Aloha spirit, has an impressive background. After working with Frank Zappa and collaborating with “Weird Al” Yankovic, West embraced Hawaiian slack key guitar, earning a Grammy and establishing a successful second career.

Gore and West’s performance will take place at Lost Chord Guitars, located at 1576 Copenhagen Drive, Solvang.
