Former MEGADETH Guitarist Kiko Loureiro to Drop New Solo Single This Friday, Announces Upcoming Full Album

by Madonna

Former Megadeth guitarist Kiko Loureiro is gearing up to release new music, sharing an update with his fans ahead of his latest solo single dropping this Friday. In a heartfelt message, Loureiro reflected on his challenging journey as a professional musician, especially during his early days in Brazil.

“In Brazil, things were never easy,” Loureiro shared. “Becoming a professional musician felt like defying the odds. The market was small, with few venues to perform at, and instruments were scarce, often of poor quality. Lessons and music books were nearly impossible to find.”

Looking back, Loureiro recalled the struggles of those early days. His first instrument was borrowed from his aunt, and his first electric guitar—a black SG copy—came years later. Even then, he only had the guitar for a while, without an amp or pedal, both of which took him nearly a year to afford. His first professional guitar was acquired through unconventional means, as he vividly remembers meeting a smuggler in a parking lot, nervously carrying $800 in cash for the purchase.

Loureiro’s message emphasized the perseverance and dedication it took to succeed. “When you’re practicing guitar and battling to improve, it can feel like a never-ending struggle,” he said. “But it’s possible. It’s a journey of daily commitment, discipline, and hours of work. The rewards and opportunities do come.”

He expressed his gratitude for the journey he’s been on, thanking his supporters as he announced the upcoming release of his new album. This Friday, Loureiro will release the second single from the album, with the full record soon to follow.

Earlier, Loureiro released a single titled “Out Of Nothing” and shared a playthrough video, which is available online along with free guitar tabs. He described the inspiration behind the track, which, like much of his work, came from a place of intuitive creativity. “When I compose, I don’t plan or theorize—I just let my hands guide me across the fretboard,” Loureiro explained. “It’s about discovering new paths, rejecting others, and always searching for the right feeling.”

The song “Out Of Nothing” opens with a bold tritone interval, known for its tension, setting up a dynamic riff alternating between A and D with their tritones. The track picks up speed with a series of rapid 16th notes, propelling the song forward.

Loureiro described the verse as having a simple, baroque-inspired harmony, arpeggiated with hybrid picking and influenced by Baião, a rhythm from northeastern Brazil. This blend of styles introduces chromatic lines and mediant progressions that add complexity to the song.

For the chorus, Loureiro experimented with tension, playing with E major and minor, avoiding a completely uplifting feel. As the song progresses, the musical elements repeat and evolve, much like in classical compositions. He introduces nylon-string guitars, giving a nod to the past, before returning to the tritone chord progression with more intricate lines and techniques.

Despite the complexity, Loureiro reassured listeners that the familiar verse and chorus return, offering a sense of familiarity. “Though I take you far, I’m careful never to lose you entirely,” he said.

Loureiro encouraged fans to check out “Out Of Nothing” and share their thoughts, with the promise of more music to come when his new album is released soon.
