Fender has joined forces with Capcom to introduce a special Telecaster guitar inspired by Rathalos, one of the most iconic creatures from the Monster Hunter series. This model commemorates the franchise’s 20th Anniversary, encapsulating the mythical, monster-slaying essence of the game.
The guitar showcases an array of custom graphics and motifs themed around Rathalos. Notably, the iconic Rathalos emblem, featuring its distinctive wing pattern and fiery crest, is displayed on the 12th fret inlay and the back of the instrument, while guild marks adorn the front of the body.
In terms of specifications, the Rathalos Telecaster boasts a satin-finished alder body, a Modern C-shaped maple neck, 22 medium jumbo frets, a rosewood fingerboard, vintage locking tuners, a bone nut, and a 3-saddle vintage-style strings-through-body setup with slanted brass barrel saddles.
Sound-wise, it features specially designed Monster Hunter Rathalos Humbucking pickups in the neck position, complemented by a single-coil pickup in the bridge. Fender claims these pickups deliver “powerful, rich tones that work great with distortion pedals.”
The guitar also comes with a black hardshell case adorned with an original collaboration badge and a certificate of authenticity featuring the same engraving as the neck plate. Priced at $1,999.99, it’s a collector’s dream.
Additionally, a limited edition model, showcasing Rathalos’ claw marks on the pickguard, will be available exclusively at the Fender Flagship Tokyo store in Harajuku and through Fender Japan’s online store. This version features luminescent body binding, 12th fret inlays, and side dots that glow red in the dark.
To further mark Monster Hunter’s 20th anniversary, Fender will release a special collection of guitar picks alongside the Telecaster. These picks, inspired by Rathalos, will feature familiar in-game material icons such as tail, wings, and scales, which players earn by defeating the beast.
