by Madonna

“Soli Deo Gloria: The Music of J.S. Bach,” a special concert featuring internationally acclaimed organist Grace Oh and Andrew Balio, the principal trumpet of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 1, in the sanctuary of the First Presbyterian Church of Annapolis, located at 171 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis. This event is open to the public, with free admission and a voluntary offering collected at the entrance.

The one-hour concert will showcase several of Johann Sebastian Bach’s notable compositions, including chorale preludes, transcriptions, and organ solos. Among the highlighted pieces is Oh’s solo performance of the “Toccata and Fugue in D Minor,” widely regarded as Bach’s most famous organ work. Both Oh and Balio have earned international acclaim for their performances. Balio has held the principal trumpet position in various international orchestras, and among his solo recordings is “Soli Deo Gloria,” which features his own transcriptions of Bach’s music for trumpet and organ. He has also recently completed another volume of transcriptions, including works by Brahms, Schumann, and Schubert. Oh has achieved first prize in competitions held in Germany, Italy, and the United States and has been invited to prestigious music festivals worldwide.
