International Karol Lipiński Violin Competition Announces 2024 Winners

The International Karol Lipiński Violin Competition in Poland, founded in 2007, has recently concluded its sixth edition. This prestigious competition, open to violinists born between 1989 and 2005, attracted exceptional young talent from across the globe.

The first prize of €15,000 was awarded to Sunjae Ok from South Korea. The second prize of €10,000 went to Lorenz Karls from Sweden, while South Korean violinist Wonbeen Chung received the third prize of €6,000.

All three finalists performed alongside conductor Dainius Pavilionis and the Toruń Symphony Orchestra during the competition.

Additionally, the winners awarded with Distinction included Carla Marrero Martínez from Spain, Polish violinist Hanna Pozorska, and Sarah Jégou-Sageman from France. Each of these distinguished musicians will receive a cash prize of €2,000.

The jury for the 2024 competition was composed of Daniel Stabrawa (chair), Dainius Pavilionis, Jakub Jakowicz, Rūta Lipinaitytė, and Philip A. Draganov.

The laureates recently showcased their talents during the official Winners’ Concert on October 6 at CKK Jordanki in Toruń, which also featured the formal presentation of the main and special prizes.
