Long Island Music Hall of Fame to Honor Late Saxophonist Pat DeRosa on October 19

The Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame will pay tribute to the late saxophonist Pat DeRosa on October 19.

Hosted by his daughter, Patricia DeRosa, the event will feature a video/interview presentation, followed by a Q&A session with both his daughter and granddaughter. Attendees can look forward to a raffle and a live performance by family and friends. The event is set to take place from 2 PM to 3 PM at the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame, located at 97 Main St., Stony Brook. Admission is free with the purchase of a general admission ticket.

DeRosa was a dedicated music teacher on Long Island, serving for 27 years in the Huntington School District. He also earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the ‘Oldest Professional Saxophone Player’. He was inducted into LIMEHOF in 2021.

DeRosa passed away last year at the age of 101. Throughout his career, he performed alongside legendary musicians, including as a member of Glenn Miller’s Army Air Force band during World War II and as a duet partner with John Coltrane. In addition to his performances, he taught music in both the Huntington and South Huntington school districts.
