Line 6 has expanded its POD line with a new addition designed specifically for metal guitarists: the POD Express Black. This follows the earlier release of the POD Express and POD Express Bass, pedal-format modelers that function as both amp replacements and home recording interfaces. The POD Express Black targets metal players with a focus on high-gain tones.
Rick Gagliano, Director of Product Management at Line 6, explained the appeal: “For a wide variety of metal guitarists, the POD Express Black is a great all-in-one modeler that gives them a unique selection of high-gain tones, plus essential effects. It’s compact, fun and easy to use, affordable, and – most importantly – it features tones derived from the Helix family of products.”
The POD Express Black features a central control knob for selecting between seven amp models, each inspired by the tones of well-known metal bands. In addition to amp modeling, the unit offers distortion, boost, modulation, delay, and reverb effects, with individual knobs for easy control. It also includes an on/off footswitch, a “tap” switch for tempo-based effects, and can serve as an audio interface via its USB-C port.
