Sir Brian May Shreds Guitar in Talia Dean’s “You Made Your Bed” Music Video

by Madonna

Sir Brian May makes a cameo in the music video for Talia Dean’s latest single, You Made Your Bed, where he finds himself facing a noise complaint after playing his guitar.

At 77, the Queen guitarist, who has previously collaborated with Dean on singles like Get Up and Dancing in the Rain with her band Kings Daughters, brings his signature sound to Dean’s new pop-infused breakup anthem.

In the video, Sir Brian plays his guitar in a bedroom alongside Dean, who is singing, and a group of dancers. However, things take a humorous turn when a police officer arrives after receiving a noise complaint. The officer knocks on the door and calls through the letterbox: “Mr. May, can we have a chat, please? We’ve had a complaint again… dial the volume down.”

The clip unfolds as Dean wakes up on the bedroom floor, surrounded by her friends, while Sir Brian is seen in bed clutching a teddy bear. The video rewinds 24 hours earlier, showing Dean walking out of her house with a suitcase after an argument with her partner. Later, she is seen singing and dancing in a bar before joining Sir Brian in the bedroom as he plays his electric guitar.

In between, there are scenes of a man trying to block out the noise with his hands as he rolls around in bed, while the police officer makes another appearance to check on the situation.

Speaking about the song, Sir Brian May said, “I see this track as a very important milestone in Talia’s career. It’s as if, in this song, she’s shaking off not just a relationship, but a whole way of life that she no longer wants to live. She and I are already working in this exciting new direction that the song hints at. For now, it’s a track full of pure fun and mischief, and it makes me smile every time I hear it.”

Sir Brian also shared on Instagram that Dean inspired him to return to the studio, and he “couldn’t resist” contributing some production work on the song.

Dean, who was a finalist on The X Factor in 2017, has long impressed Sir Brian with her talent. After taking her under his wing, they’ve continued to collaborate on various musical projects.

Dean herself described the song as “a firm reminder that the world is a huge place with 8.2 billion people. Nobody should stay in a relationship with someone who treats them badly. Know your worth. It’s better to stay single than with someone who doesn’t respect you. No matter your age, where you are in the world, or what your situation is—it’s never too late to break free and pursue happiness.”

She added, “I’ve come to realize that I deserve love, attention, and respect. I put up with toxic behavior longer than I should have. I deserve someone who cherishes me—and so do you. Live your life and strive for true love. It’s out there.”

To support the cause, 10% of the proceeds from the song will be donated to Crisis, a homelessness charity.
