Ned Evett, World-Renowned Fretless Guitar Virtuoso, to Rock South Africa This December

by Madonna

Nashville-born and Los Angeles-based guitarist Ned Evett is bringing his groundbreaking sound and unmatched fretless guitar mastery to South Africa for the first time this December. Known for pioneering the glass-necked fretless guitar and collaborating with some of the biggest names in music, Evett’s upcoming tour promises an unforgettable experience for fans of innovative rock.

With his latest album Strange Kind of Freedom, Evett demonstrates his extraordinary technique on the world’s only all-glass fretless Morningstar Glass Guitar, a unique instrument that enhances his signature slide and technique-driven style. Joining him on this record are drummer Shane Gaalaas and Grammy-winning bassist Pete Griffin, creating an L.A.-based rhythm section that brings Evett’s intricate compositions to life. The album was mixed and mastered by renowned producer Cory Churko, further elevating the expansive and dynamic sound of Strange Kind of Freedom.

Evett’s illustrious musical career includes collaborations with icons such as Joe Satriani, John Fogerty, Leon Russell, The Allman Brothers Band, and Adrian Belew, to name a few. This year, he also had the honor of performing a private recital for Sting and John McLaughlin. Now, Evett is taking his artistry on the road to South Africa, where he’ll introduce his innovative fretless guitar to a new audience.

“I’m beyond excited to bring my glass guitar and new songs to South Africa,” Evett shared. “It’s about more than just playing music; it’s about connecting with people and sharing the raw emotions and stories that make us human. There’s a powerful spirit in South Africa that has always drawn me in, and I can’t wait to exchange energy and inspiration with everyone who’s ready to feel it. This tour is especially meaningful to me as musical legend Adrian Belew, who produced my Treehouse album, shared amazing stories about recording Paul Simon’s Graceland album. Those stories made me even more eager to tour here. I’ll also be jamming with a South African backing band in Johannesburg, which is going to be incredible!”
