Drum Workshop, Inc. (DW) has launched the Trevor Lawrence Jr. Artist Expansion Pack for DW Soundworks, promising an exceptional array of sounds tailored to Hip-Hop, Trap, and Dub musicians and producers.
Trevor Lawrence Jr., a multi-Grammy-winning drummer and producer, is renowned for his collaborations with top artists across Hip-Hop and Pop, including Dr. Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Kendrick Lamar, Bruno Mars, Alicia Keys, and others. He is particularly celebrated for his ability to recreate vintage drum machine sounds from classic R&B and Hip-Hop tracks, while maintaining the authenticity of a live performance.
The sounds featured in the new Trevor Lawrence Jr. Expansion Pack were recorded at Silent Zoo Studios, which is widely regarded for its excellent live room acoustics. Lawrence performed on a variety of carefully selected DW and LP drums, paired with top-tier cymbals. These instruments were captured using a range of high-quality microphones from brands such as Sennheiser, AKG, Neumann, Telefunken, and more. The sampled instruments are provided at 24-bit, 88.2 kHz quality, offering over 10GB of Hip-Hop-centric sounds, based on the acoustic drum kit that Lawrence used at the 2022 Super Bowl LVI.
The expansion pack introduces 14 custom presets curated by Lawrence, giving producers, beatmakers, and artists access to a diverse set of sounds with specific tonal characteristics. These range from dry and crisp to low and tubby, offering endless possibilities for music creation. A demonstration of the new expansion pack, featuring Lawrence himself, is available for viewing.
