Jason Bonham has officially announced that he will no longer serve as the drummer for the Best Of All Worlds band. Kenny Aronoff will now take on the role permanently, following his initial stint filling in for Bonham during the band’s previous tour.
The Best Of All Worlds project, featuring Joe Satriani, Michael Anthony, Sammy Hagar, and Bonham, began touring last July, celebrating the iconic music of Van Halen. Bonham, however, stepped away from the final four tour dates to care for his mother, with Aronoff stepping in as a temporary replacement.
The lineup change has now been made permanent, with Aronoff confirmed as the drummer for the band’s upcoming 2025 Las Vegas residency. Scheduled to take place from late April to mid-May, the residency will span nine shows. Aronoff brings an extensive resume to the band, having previously worked with renowned artists such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Smashing Pumpkins, Jon Bon Jovi, and many more.
Bonham addressed his departure in response to a fan query on Instagram. Sharing the schedule for his upcoming Led Zeppelin Evening shows, a fan asked if he would return to Best Of All Worlds. Bonham replied, “Sammy has decided to carry on with Kenny, so sadly no.”
Sammy Hagar shared his excitement about the residency in a press release (via Consequence). “I’m so looking forward to this residency and being able to stay in one place so we can get the sound and production completely dialed in,” Hagar said. “It also allows the band to experiment with the setlist every night – that’s why it’s going to be exclusive to Las Vegas.
“Instead of traveling all day on tour when there’s no time to rehearse and make changes, I plan on digging deeper into the Van Halen catalog, as well as my solo career, Montrose, and Chickenfoot. The fans are in for a lot of surprises.”
The Las Vegas residency promises a fresh approach to the band’s performances, with plenty of opportunities for creative exploration and memorable moments for fans.
