A Resonet Futurama guitar once owned by George Harrison sold for a staggering $1.27 million at Julien’s Auctions in Nashville this week. Initially expected to fetch between $600,000 and $800,000, the final bid broke records, setting a new high for memorabilia associated with the “Quiet Beatle.”
Harrison bought the guitar in 1959 from a Liverpool shop, and it became a key instrument in 324 Beatles performances. It was also used during the band’s first recording session with Polydor Records. Notable tracks featuring the Resonet include My Bonnie with Tony Sheridan and Cry For a Shadow, which was co-written by Harrison and John Lennon.
The auction, titled Played, Worn & Torn II, also featured legendary items from artists like Eric Clapton, Britney Spears, Prince, the Rolling Stones, and Nirvana. This remarkable sale underscores the lasting legacy of the Beatles and the ongoing allure of rock & roll memorabilia.
