Although Jordan Rudess is primarily known for his keyboard skills, he’s making waves as a formidable competitor to Dream Theater’s John Petrucci with his new signature guitar. While Rudess already has a signature model with Druzkowski Guitars, he’s now partnered with Strandberg to create the Boden JR Sorcerer, a high-end guitar that comes with a hefty price tag of $3,495.
This top-tier model features a chambered swamp ash body with a stunning flame maple top and a transparent metallic purple burst gloss finish, making it a visually striking instrument. The guitar also includes a roasted bolt-on maple neck with Strandberg’s unique EndurNeck profile, 24 frets made of 51100 stainless steel, an artificial ebonol fretboard, and a zero fret.
As a headless guitar, the Boden JR Sorcerer is built for speed and precision, with a 20-inch fretboard radius that enhances its shredding capabilities. The guitar is equipped with Strandberg’s EGS Rev7B bridge and string locks for superior stability.
In terms of electronics, this model is packed with a Suhr SSH+ pickup in the bridge position and a Sustainiac Stealth Pro in the neck position, which is renowned for allowing strings to vibrate endlessly until the battery runs out. The guitar also features a volume control, a three-way pickup selector, and two switches to control the Sustainiac pickup, giving players a wide range of sonic possibilities.
