Jamie Foxx has revealed yet another talent—playing the drums.
The 56-year-old actor and musician shared a video on Instagram on Thursday, Nov. 28, showcasing a fun jam session with R&B artist Tank in what seems to be a home music studio.
In the clip, Tank, 48, plays the piano and improvises lyrics, singing, “I want bacon, but I don’t want no pork!” Meanwhile, Foxx accompanies him on vocals and drums.
“Happy Thanksgiving. From @therealtank and me. The song snap. But I did have some 🐷 hahaha don’t sleep on my 🥁 skills,” Foxx humorously captioned the post.
The two share a long-standing friendship. Foxx was a groomsman at Tank’s 2018 wedding to longtime partner Zena Foster, and Tank has been a vocal supporter of Foxx, especially following the actor’s serious medical emergency in April.
When Foxx returned to the public eye after his health scare, Tank posted an Instagram photo of the two in tuxedos with the caption, “Guess who’s back?!.. @iamjamiefoxx. I promise the world is a better place with you in it. Love u bro..💙.” Foxx replied, “❤️❤️❤️ means the world 🌎.”
Tank, whose real name is Durrell Artaze Babbs, has often credited Foxx for helping him through a critical moment in his music career. In a 2018 interview with PEOPLE, Tank shared how Foxx’s support stopped him from leaving the music industry.
“I was considering not even doing music anymore,” Tank admitted. “I didn’t like the way the [music] game was going. Once you get into the business, you start seeing how ugly and dirty it is.”
After the underwhelming performance of his One Man album, Tank felt ready to quit. “I told Jamie, ‘I’ma just go home, man, and go back to playing at church.’”
Foxx, however, was determined not to let that happen. “We were sitting in Jamie’s kitchen,” Tank recalled, “and he said, ‘You can’t go back, you can’t stop. If you stop, what am I going to do? Who’s going to inspire me?’”
Foxx went a step further, offering Tank his home and studio as a place to regroup. “He said, ‘I know it’s tough times for you right now, but you can stay at my house and use my studio every day until you figure it out and find your way back.’ And that’s just what I did,” Tank said.
The Thanksgiving jam session is a heartwarming reminder of their enduring friendship and mutual inspiration.
