Violinist Roberta Verna announced on social media that she will officially begin her trial as the first Concertmaster at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in September 2025.
“I’m thrilled to tell you that I will officially start my trial as first Concertmaster at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin from September 2025,” Verna shared. “I am truly honoured to receive this opportunity and happy to share this news here. Looking forward to this very new chapter in my life.”
Verna will take on this prestigious role after serving as concertmaster of the Copenhagen Philharmonic, a position she has held since 2021 at just 22 years old. Her experience also includes previous roles as concertmaster of the Bavarian State Youth Orchestra and violinist with the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, the Bavarian State Orchestra Academy, the European Philharmonic of Switzerland, and the Utopia Orchestra.
She studied violin under Daniel Gaede at the Hochschule für Musik Nürnberg and, since 2017, with Herwig Sack at the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg. In 2017, Verna received the City of Würzburg’s Culture Prize alongside her brother, cellist Richard Verna.
As a prizewinner of the German Musical Instrument Fund competition, Verna has been playing on a 1703 Stradivari violin provided by the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben (DSM) since 2017.
