The official YouTube channel of late Megadeth drummer Nick Menza, Menza Nation, has been offering fans a treasure trove of previously unreleased archive footage. Recently, a never-before-seen drum-cam video surfaced, showing Menza re-recording the iconic Megadeth song “Train Of Consequences” in the studio. In this newly shared clip, Menza offers some candid reflections on his drumming career, revealing that some of his parts on the band’s albums were actually mistakes that the band chose to keep.
Menza shared, “Most of my parts on the albums were mistakes that they kept and I had to learn them, kind of fucked up! But you’re only as good as you are on your worst night.”
Filmed in March of 2014 at Uberbeatz Studios in Seattle, Washington, this footage is believed to be among the last studio drum recordings Menza made before his untimely death more than two years later. Originally intended to be part of Menza’s first-ever instructional DVD, Intense Mega Drumming, the footage features 10 re-recorded classic Megadeth drum tracks, along with valuable tips and tricks from Menza himself aimed at helping drummers improve their skills.
Unfortunately, the instructional DVD was never released but now finds new life as part of the Menza Mega Video Vault web series, set to stream in June 2025.
In addition to the video release, BayView Entertainment, in collaboration with Ellefson Films and Screaming Butterfly Entertainment, has announced an exciting event for the Nick Menza documentary This Was My Life: Nick Menza’s Metal Memories With Megadeth and Beyond. The event will take place on Thursday, April 17, at Hawthorne Theatre in Hawthorne, NJ, where attendees will have the opportunity to engage in a Q&A session with members of the cast and crew after the film screening.
