In a recent video interview with Premier Guitar, Judas Priest guitarist Richie Faulkner candidly discussed the health challenges he continues to face while performing with the iconic heavy metal band. Faulkner shared that just a month after undergoing emergency heart surgery in 2021 due to a life-threatening aorta rupture that occurred on stage, he suffered a severe stroke that resulted in brain damage. This stroke has had a lasting impact on his ability to play guitar.
Despite these ongoing difficulties, Faulkner has made an impressive return to the band and continues to tour with Judas Priest. However, he admitted that he still faces struggles during some live performances. “There’s stuff that I used to play — I used to think something and it would come out,” Faulkner explained. “And now I’m up there struggling to play a rhythm pattern. So that’s what I struggle with. That’s the collateral damage.”
Judas Priest fans can catch Faulkner and the rest of the band on their upcoming festival and headlining dates across Europe and the UK, which are set to run from mid-April through late July.
