The Zhuhai International Mozart Competition, presented by the University of Mozarteum Salzburg, has announced the second round candidates for this year’s edition. The competition, which focuses on emerging violin and piano players under the age of 23, is being held from September 8 to 20 at the Zhuhai Huafa & CPAA Grand Theatre in China.
Established in 2015, the competition not only emphasizes young musicians’ virtuosity but also places great importance on their understanding and interpretation of classical music style. Participants are divided into three age groups: Group A for those 12 years and under, Group B for those 13 to 16 years old, and Group C for those 17 to 23 years old.
The first prize winners in each group will receive substantial cash prizes: Group A’s first prize is $7,500, Group B’s first prize is $15,000, and Group C’s first prize is an impressive $30,000.
The Violin Jury for this year’s competition includes Chairman Paul Roczek, Soon-Mi Chung Barratt-Due, Radu Blidar, Harald Eggebrecht, David Frühwirth, Kun Hu, Dora Schwarzberg, and Weidong Tong. The competition promises to showcase exceptional talent and foster the development of young musicians in the world of classical music.
