Amersham resident Imogen Atkinson, aged 17, demonstrated both musical prowess and a generous spirit as she successfully raised over £1,000 for a local charity through her oboe recital.
Imogen organized a charity concert to support Street Kids Direct, a locally funded initiative dedicated to sponsoring children in Guatemala. Additionally, the event provided her with an opportunity to hone her skills in preparation for upcoming conservatoire auditions.
The recital, hosted at St Mary the Virgin in Old Amersham, drew an audience of more than 70 friends and family members. Despite Imogen’s modest acknowledgment of “a few bits” of her performance that she wasn’t entirely satisfied with, the audience was captivated by her musical talent. The result was a remarkable collection of around £600 in cash donations on the night of the performance.
Imogen is pleased to announce that she has received offers from three different music schools, including her first-choice destination, the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Her dual achievement of supporting a charitable cause and securing coveted places at prestigious music schools speaks volumes about her dedication and skill as a young oboe player.
