Renowned global music icon Ed Sheeran has made a charitable gesture by donating a personally signed guitar to support a fundraising initiative aimed at providing free music lessons for disadvantaged primary school children in the seaside town of Harwich, Essex.
The signed guitar, a unique collector’s item, is set to be auctioned off on the 13th of February by the charity We Are Music. Toby Scott, a representative from the organization, expressed his excitement about Sheeran’s contribution, stating, “We are thrilled to have Ed Sheeran’s support for our cause.”
The funds generated from the auction will be allocated to offering complimentary music sessions to young children in Harwich. Speaking on the impact of the donation, Mr. Scott emphasized, “His [Sheeran’s] signed guitar not only demonstrates his commitment to the cause but also serves as a distinctive collector’s item for fans.”
The charity envisions that if the auction manages to raise £3,000, it would be possible to provide a six-session music course for 50 children. Sheeran, a native of Suffolk, has built a reputation for his philanthropic endeavors, with a recent auction of his clothing fetching an impressive £27,000 for a local hospice charity.
