Reflecting on a memorable performance at “Culture Lab in 2022,” where he introduced his latest project, “Unexpected Direction,” Madeline fondly recalls receiving the New Work Grant from the Queens Council on the Arts. This grant enabled him to showcase his full band, including strings, opening doors to new opportunities and recognition.

Having immersed himself in the vibrant New York jazz scene, Madeline shares his passion for music through master classes and has been honored as an “honorary guest in residency” at the Conservatory of Lille in France.

Madeline emphasizes the importance of music as a conduit for balance in a diverse world, stating, “To truly hear and understand jazz, one must remain open to the flow of the inner tempo, the exploration of identity, vulnerability, and the beauty found in imperfection, both individually and collectively. It is the balance of life within each of us.”

“Balance,” the album’s inaugural track, draws inspiration from the harmonic vibe of legendary saxophonist Wayne Shorter, crafted within a ¾ time signature that Madeline discovered as the essence of balance itself.
