During the kickoff of their international Dark Matter World Tour in Vancouver, Pearl Jam’s lead guitarist, Mike McCready, encountered a dramatic moment when he fell off stage mid-solo but continued playing.
Celebrating their latest album release, Dark Matter, Pearl Jam started their tour with high energy and performed a mix of new tracks and classic hits like “Black,” “Alive,” and “Yellow Ledbetter,” which they will also play during upcoming shows in New Zealand.
While performing the song “Porch” from their debut album Ten, a concert attendee captured footage showing McCready, 58, stepping forward during his electric guitar solo and suddenly disappearing from view offstage. Despite the mishap, he managed to keep his guitar above ground and continued playing while lying on the floor.
Security quickly rushed to assist McCready, who impressively maintained his solo, seamlessly continuing the performance. Within seconds, he regained his footing, smiled, and resumed playing, much to the audience’s applause and relief.
Currently touring the Western half of North America, Pearl Jam will soon head to Europe, beginning in Dublin on June 22 and concluding in Lisbon on July 13. After a month-long break, they will resume their tour with dates across the Eastern United States in August and September.
In November, Pearl Jam is scheduled to perform in New Zealand at Auckland’s Mt Smart Stadium on November 8 and 10, followed by additional shows across Australia.
