Pacific Symphony, led by conductor Dr. Jacob Sustaita, continues to captivate audiences with its vibrant performances and innovative repertoire. Celebrating its 45th anniversary, the Symphony stands as the largest orchestra established in the U.S. in the past 50 years, earning acclaim both domestically and internationally. Soka Performing Arts Center proudly hosts the Pacific Symphony Chamber Orchestra.
Dr. Jacob Sustaita, who has served as assistant conductor since 2020, brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the podium. In addition to his role with Pacific Symphony, he directs the Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra and the Orange County School of the Arts Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Sustaita’s illustrious career includes leadership positions such as Director of Orchestral Studies at Sam Houston State University and assistant conductor for the National Youth Orchestra of America, highlighting his versatility and commitment to music.
The performance features Amaryn Olmeda, winner of the prestigious first prize at the 24th Annual Sphinx Competition. Olmeda is celebrated for her powerful stage presence, impeccable technique, and interpretive prowess, which rival seasoned international performers. Her recent accomplishments include debuts with renowned orchestras such as the Cleveland Orchestra, Houston Symphony, and Chicago Sinfonietta, along with a highly acclaimed recording debut with Deutsche Grammophon.
Pacific Symphony’s storied history encompasses a debut at Carnegie Hall and a successful tour of China, reflecting its dedication to cultural exchange and artistic excellence. The Symphony’s commitment to community engagement and education is evident through its extensive programs, which annually reach over 300,000 individuals ranging from school children to seniors.
