Composed in 1777, Mozart’s Oboe Concerto in C major is considered one of the most important concertos in the oboe repertoire.
Later reworked for flute, both concertos have an intriguing history. The oboe work was presumed lost, while the flute concerto was unknown. They were rediscovered in 1920 from archives at the Salzburg Mozarteum.

For the next Balearic Symphony Orchestra concert at Bellver Castle, young oboe player Martín Lopesino will be the soloist for the concerto. Internationally renowned Martín Baeza-Rubio will conduct a programme that also includes a selection from Khachaturian’s ‘Spartacus’ and ‘Habanera’ by Spanish composer Enrique Fernández Arbós.
