Long Gone John, hailing from Vermont, has released a charming new track titled “Ain’t Gotta Think About You.” Featuring his band, Tallgrass Getdown, John showcases a warm and effortless vocal style that complements the track’s classic New Orleans-inspired sound. The song features a lively jangly piano rhythm and playful horns, creating a fun and lighthearted ballad perfect for dancing with a loved one.
“Ain’t Gotta Think About You” is part of an upcoming album and has its origins in the early years of Tallgrass Getdown. Although it was never fully developed, it was revisited during the recording of the album Songs For Ophelia. As John explains, “The song was sidelined as I focused on other original material, but our piano player, Dave, brought it up a few times during recording sessions. We decided to give it another try. I rewrote the lyrics, recorded them live with harmonies, and the track really came alive when we added the horns, enhancing its traditional jazz and ragtime elements at Jer Coons’ Studio in Jericho, Vermont.”
