Philadelphia Orchestra Poaches Chicago’s Principal Trumpet

The Philadelphia Orchestra has secured Esteban Batallán as its new principal trumpet, effective next month.

The 40-year-old Spanish virtuoso has spent the last five years in the same role with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, where he was brought on board by Riccardo Muti.
