Legendary guitarist Brian May, known for his iconic work with Queen, has reassured fans that despite suffering a “minor stroke,” he can still play the guitar. May, who recently completed a tour of Japan with Queen + Adam Lambert, shared the news in a video on his website.
“I’m here to bring you some good news,” May said. “The good news is that I can still play guitar after the events of the last few days.”
May explained that his ability to play was uncertain following a health scare about a week ago. “What they called it was a minor stroke, and suddenly, out of the blue, I lost control of my arm. It was a bit scary,” he revealed.
He credited the “fantastic” care he received at Frimley Hospital, where he was taken by ambulance with “blue lights flashing… the lot.”
May also asked fans not to flood his inbox with sympathy messages, as he wants to keep it manageable. Additionally, he mentioned that he’s currently not allowed to travel.
“I’m grounded,” May said. “I’m not allowed to drive, get on a plane, or do anything that might raise my heart rate too high. Even planes flying overhead could stress me out. But I’m doing well.”
