A psychedelic golf buggy once owned by Noel Gallagher and what has been described as ‘the best guitar in the world’ are among a stunning collection of rare Oasis memorabilia set to be auctioned. The collection, which is expected to bring in hundreds of thousands of pounds, also features one of Liam Gallagher’s favorite tambourines.
Following the recent announcement of the Britpop legends’ reunion with tour dates scheduled for next year, including a show at Heaton Park, over 60 items will be available at Propstore’s online auction.
Among the highlights is a set of 18 guitars owned by Noel Gallagher, including his famous custom Silver Sparkle Gibson Les Paul Florentine. Noel has called this Les Paul ‘the best guitar in the world,’ and it is projected to sell for between £200,000 and £400,000.
The band’s reunion was confirmed last week, marking their first return since they disbanded backstage at France’s Rock en Seine festival in 2009.
One of the most unusual items in the auction is a golf buggy with a psychedelic paint job, reminiscent of John Lennon’s Rolls Royce Phantom V limousine. This buggy was a gift from Noel’s then-wife Meg Matthews in the late 1990s and was used to navigate their Buckinghamshire estate. It is anticipated to fetch between £5,000 and £10,000.
Also up for grabs is a tambourine used by Liam Gallagher on stage, along with several of Noel’s handwritten lyrics to “Wonderwall,” which are expected to sell for between £4,000 and £8,000. Additionally, there will be a set of lyrics for “Supersonic” and “Live Forever,” with the latter signed by both Noel and Liam, estimated to reach between £3,000 and £6,000.
Other items include platinum records presented to Oasis producer Owen Morris, stage equipment, and prints of the band captured by photographer Jill Furmanovsky. Fans can view these items at the Together We’ll Fly exhibition at the Cumberland Hotel near London’s Marble Arch from Friday, October 18, to Sunday, October 20. Proceeds from the event will support the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Mark Hochman, Propstore’s music and poster specialist, stated: “Propstore is thrilled to offer fans the opportunity to own these extraordinary pieces of music history. This auction is a unique chance for people to connect with the legacy of Oasis, and we look forward to seeing these iconic items become part of new collections that will honor them for years to come.”
