Skid Row Guitarist Declares Sebastian Bach Reunion Would Be ‘Toxic’

by Madonna

Scotti Hill has firmly stated that Skid Row will not reunite with former lead singer Sebastian Bach, despite fan demands for such a return.

Skid Row’s latest vocalist, Erik Gronwall, left the band in March to prioritize his health. Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale temporarily stepped in for a few shows, but the band has yet to secure a permanent replacement.

With the position currently open, many fans have been vocal about wanting Bach to come back. Bach led Skid Row from 1987 to 1996, the band’s peak period in terms of commercial success. However, Hill is adamant that a reunion is not in the cards.

“We accomplished a lot together in the past, but this goes beyond just the band or the music,” Hill explained on the Appetite for Distortion podcast. “The idea of ‘doing it for the fans’—no, that’s not going to happen. I won’t sacrifice my well-being and peace for the fans. True fans wouldn’t want us to endure something we don’t want to do. People just want what they want. They want the band with that specific guy. They still want Bon Scott back with AC/DC. It’s unrealistic.”

Bach has been separated from Skid Row since 1996 but has recently shown interest in rejoining. Skid Row, however, has not shown any willingness to revisit the past.

“I don’t want to experience daily discomfort, like having food poisoning,” Hill remarked, describing how a reunion with Bach would feel. “It’s toxic.”

Hill further advised that if fans are unhappy with Skid Row’s current lineup, they can choose not to listen. Conversely, those who are fans of Bach should go see him perform separately.

“I Don’t Want to Be in the Room with Someone I Don’t Like”

Hill acknowledged that fans will likely continue to ask about a reunion with Bach, but he emphasized that external pressure won’t change his stance.

“It’s a matter of quality of life,” Hill said. “People suggest we should just set aside our differences, but I don’t want to do that. There are no differences; I simply don’t want to be in the room with someone I don’t like.”

In response to Hill’s comments, Bach shared a photo on social media with the caption “photo of actual last time in a room together,” showing the band and their families enjoying a past moment.

Skid Row is actively searching for a new lead singer.

“We’re reviewing several candidates,” Hill revealed. “We’ve got a good list of potential singers, some of whom are very talented, and others who are less so. With platforms like YouTube and Instagram, finding talent is much easier now compared to the pre-Internet days when we had to rely on ads and word-of-mouth.”

The band’s next vocalist, assuming they do not return to Bach or any previous frontmen, will be the seventh in Skid Row’s history.
