In less than three weeks, New Ross in County Wexford will host some of the finest international and Irish pianists for the highly anticipated return of the New Ross Piano Festival. From Wednesday, September 27 to Sunday, September 29, the festival will feature a series of concerts that showcase a wide range of musical talent, covering classical, jazz, contemporary, and more.
Recently recognized as one of the “Top Classical Music Festivals in Europe for 2024” by BBC Classical Music, this year’s event will include twelve concerts over five days. With over 2,000 visitors expected, attendees will enjoy performances in the remarkable acoustics of St. Mary’s Church.
A new and exciting format has been introduced this year. For the first time, two concerts will take place on both Friday and Saturday evenings, allowing each performance to have its own distinct artistic focus.
The festival will kick off on Wednesday, September 25, with the “Young Pianists Concert,” part of the festival’s ongoing commitment to nurturing emerging talent. This concert offers rising artists a chance to showcase their skills in front of an appreciative audience.
Continuing its focus on young talent, the festival will host a special free recital for secondary school students on Friday, September 27. Multi-award-winning Dublin pianist Eoin Fleming, who has already performed in prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall at just 24 years old, will take the stage, offering students an inspiring musical experience.
