A young drummer from Snettisham has once again left audiences in awe after being invited to perform on stage with a rock band. Harry Murrell, 12, a student at Smithdon High School in Hunstanton, received a standing ovation for the second time after showcasing his drumming talent in front of hundreds at King’s Lynn’s Alive Corn Exchange during the Rock For Heroes show last week.
Harry first impressed the band during their gig in October last year, delivering what his father, Paul Murrell, described as the “performance of a lifetime.” For Harry, playing with a professional rock band to a full house was a “dream come true.” His drumming left such an impact that the band reached out to his family again this year, eager to have him return for another performance.
Rock For Heroes, known for its energetic and charitable rock performances, contacted Harry’s parents ahead of their Lynn show, offering him the opportunity to join them on stage for a drum solo. Although Harry was set to attend the show with his family on Thursday, September 5, he had no idea he would be invited to perform again.
“Harry was absolutely elated,” his father Paul shared. “It’s incredible to think that out of all the gigs they do, they remembered him from last year.”
Paul added that this year’s performance felt even more special. “Last year we thought it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and to hear the band’s Phil say Harry deserved the standing ovation even more this time because of how much he has improved was amazing.”
For Harry, who loves performing, the chance to play at such a prominent venue with professional musicians was a dream come true once again. His talent and passion for drumming continue to shine, making him a local star at such a young age.
