If the $175,000 price tag for Yngwie Malmsteen’s scalloped #4 Fender Stratocaster feels a bit high, how about a free Ferrari to sweeten the deal?
Walt Grace Vintage, a Miami-based store specializing in vintage cars and guitars, is offering an extraordinary package: a 1983 Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole, previously owned by the renowned Swedish guitarist, comes as a bonus with the Stratocaster. The store is billing it as a “once-in-a-lifetime chance” to own “a piece of music history” alongside “a slice of automotive greatness.”
Malmsteen, known for his neoclassical shredding and recent release of a signature MXR overdrive pedal, has used his #4 Strat extensively throughout his distinguished career. The guitar features an alder body, a modern C-profile neck, and a maple fretboard with 21 scalloped medium jumbo frets. It also includes Malmsteen’s signature Seymour Duncan YJM Fury Strat pickups, a six-saddle American Vintage Synchronized Tremolo with a whammy bar, and the classic Strat controls, all finished in a Vintage White gloss.
This guitar has been a cornerstone of Malmsteen’s career, accompanying him on numerous stages and recording sessions. According to Walt Grace Vintage, the instrument is “a significant piece of rock history, directly connected to one of the greatest guitarists of all time,” known for defining Malmsteen’s neoclassical sound and showcasing his virtuosic skills.
But the guitar isn’t the only highlight. The Ferrari, featuring a 3.8-liter V8 engine and a tan leather interior, has also enjoyed its own fame. It has appeared in iconic films and TV shows such as Magnum P.I., National Lampoon’s Vacation, and Beverly Hills Cop.
