The Central Coast Ukulele Festival kicks off with Nicky Bomba and Dom Diaz on Thursday at the Fun Haus Factory in Gosford. This vibrant event, organized in collaboration with Central Coast Music and Arts, will showcase the lively sounds of ukulele, reggae, dancing, and more.
Award-winning musician Nicky Bomba will lead a ukulele workshop from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., open to anyone aged 13 and up, regardless of their skill level. Participants will learn the fundamentals, including chords, strumming, and tuning, while benefiting from Bomba’s expert tips and techniques. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own ukuleles, though instruments are available for hire through the Central Coast Ukulele Club. Due to limited spaces, advance booking is essential.
After the workshop, the evening will feature a live concert starting at 7:30 p.m., with Bomba taking the stage alongside the rhythmic beats of Dom Diaz. With decades of experience, Bomba is known for his energetic performances blending reggae, ska, hip-hop, and afrobeat. The pairing with Dom Diaz promises to kick off the festival with high-energy grooves.
The festival boasts over 30 groups and 300 performers, promising a sensory delight. In addition to top local ukulele talents, the event will include international acts such as Paul Jonson and The Nukes, and a special reunion show featuring the wild Snapper from New Zealand.
