Sophie Lloyd Announces Debut US Headlining Show at LA’s Whisky A Go Go, Drops Shredding Cover of Alice Cooper’s “Poison”

by Madonna

Sophie Lloyd, known for her guitar skills both as a Machine Gun Kelly guitarist and a YouTube shred sensation, has revealed her first-ever US headlining show. Lloyd will be performing at the iconic Whisky A Go Go in Los Angeles on January 16, a venue rich in rock history, something she fully appreciates.

“It’s especially meaningful to play at The Whisky, a venue that has been a pivotal part of rock and roll history, where nearly all of my guitar heroes have performed multiple times,” Lloyd says.

This LA gig follows closely on the heels of her UK headlining debut, set for October 17 at The Underworld in London. The London show sold out quickly, and with a substantial fanbase in the US, it’s expected the LA performance will have a similar reception.

Lloyd is excited to finally meet her American fans in person.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the strong support I’ve built in the US over the years through my online presence. It’s high time I get over there and rock out with them face to face!” she says. “The response to our London show was amazing, and I’m hoping the US fans are just as eager to see what we’ve been working on.”

This opportunity is a major milestone for Lloyd, a BIMM graduate who has amassed an impressive following, including nearly 1.2 million YouTube subscribers. Her fame comes from her electrifying guitar reinterpretations of rock’s most iconic songs.

In April, she released her debut album Imposter Syndrome, a star-studded project featuring collaborations with Trivium’s Matt Heafy, Lzzy Hale from Halestorm, and Chris Robertson of Black Stone Cherry.

The next step for Lloyd is to take these tracks to the stage.

“I’m beyond excited to announce my show at Whisky A Go Go in LA,” Lloyd shares. “We poured so much heart and effort into the Imposter Syndrome album, and I can’t wait to finally perform it live, first in London this October and then in LA in January.”

To mark the announcement, Lloyd treated her fans to a fiery cover of Alice Cooper’s Poison, delivering a shredding performance that showcases her signature style. Using her Kiesel guitar, Lloyd blurs the line between Cooper’s vocals and John McCurry’s original guitar work with her impeccable technique.
