Dewsbury’s Drum ‘n’ Bass Event to Make Waves on the Airwaves

by Madonna

The Terrace in Dewsbury is set to make history with its upcoming drum ‘n’ bass night, Dewsburg Beatz, on Friday, September 27. For the first time, DJ sets from this event will be recorded and broadcasted on LDC Radio, a specialist dance music station in Leeds. DJ sets from Kid Dyson and Leoa will be featured, ensuring the music continues to resonate well beyond the event itself.

Kid Dyson, who hosts his own DnB show on LDC, will provide a special treat for his listeners as they hear live performances from the club. Titled “Live from The Terrace,” these sets will air on his show on Fridays from 9-11 PM for several weeks following the event.

A spokesperson from LDC expressed enthusiasm for this collaboration: “Broadcasting from the heart of the underground, we’re thrilled to partner with The Terrace, bringing you the freshest drum and bass beats. Together, we’re turning up the volume on the future of sound. Stay locked, stay loaded!”

This event marks another milestone for The Terrace, which is rapidly gaining recognition as a significant dance music venue in Yorkshire, away from the larger cities. Notably, DJ Leoa will be making history as the first female DJ to perform at The Terrace. As the founder of Siren Sounds, a Leeds-based collective, she champions individuals identifying as Female or Non-binary, aiming to uplift underrepresented genders in the music industry.

The night will showcase eight DJs and performers, including live vocals from Pat Fulgoni, a seasoned collaborator with top drum ‘n’ bass producers and a blues artist who recently organized Dewsbury’s inaugural blues festival, Bluesbury, celebrated for its success within the blues community.

Dewsburg Beatz will kick off at 9 PM on September 27 and is a ticket-only event.

While Dewsbury might not initially come to mind as a dance music hub, The Terrace is determined to change that narrative. With past performances from artists like Utah Saints, Allister Whitehead, Secret DJ, and Dave Beer, the venue continues to place Dewsbury at the forefront of the genre, blending mainstream house with specialized nights.

Upcoming dance music events include Variation of House Presents on September 28, Funkylicious on October 26, and the legendary 90s DJ Jeremy Healy on November 1.
