Two years ago, Duo Enharmonics delighted audiences in New Zealand during their tour for Chamber Music NZ, and due to popular demand, the talented piano duo, comprised of Beth Chen and Nicole Chao, is returning for another performance.
The New Zealand classical piano team is revitalizing classical music with their emotionally captivating program titled “Jewel.” Celebrating their sixth anniversary, the duo is touring the country with an exciting selection of works for piano four hands.
Their program features beloved pieces such as Schubert’s Fantasy in F Minor D.940, Ravel/Garban’s La Valse, Rachmaninov’s Six Morceaux Op.11, and Strauss/Anderson’s Blue Danube Fantasy.
Beth and Nicole both earned their Master of Music in Piano Performance degrees at the New Zealand School of Music, where they forged a lasting friendship. After pursuing successful independent careers in national and international concerto and solo competitions, they decided to reunite in 2017 upon Beth’s return to New Zealand from her musical endeavors in Europe, focusing primarily on chamber music.
Forming Duo Enharmonics, they began collaborating with members of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, New Zealand String Quartet, and Orchestra Wellington. The duo has since embarked on multiple national tours, including with Chamber Music New Zealand.
Critics have praised their performances, describing them as exhibiting “unanimity of feeling and technical mastery,” and as a “cornucopia of musical delights and pianistic thrills.” Their warmth, personality, and finesse shine through in every performance.
Tickets for the concert can be purchased in advance from the Box Office of the Royal Whanganui Opera House or at the door (cash only, no eftpos). Prices are $40 for adults, $35 for seniors, $25 for CMW subscribers (or pre-pay), and $5 for students.
