Guest timpanists SCOTT CHRISTIAN and GLENN PAULSON will perform under the direction of ANNA BINNEWEG. While many may highlight PHILIP GLASS’s “Concerto Fantasy,” the program boasts an array of exciting pieces:
DAI WEI’s The Dancing Moonlight, which blends traditional Chinese music with Western orchestration.
PHILIP GLASS’s “Concerto Fantasy for Two Timpanists,” showcasing two drummers with an impressive setup of 14 timpani for a vibrant percussion experience.
LEOS JANACEK’s “Symphonic Fantasy from Jenufa,” incorporating folk influences from his Czech roots.
JOSEF SUK’s “Scherzo Fantastique,” a whimsical and imaginative piece filled with Czech humor and colorful orchestration.
