Doug Aldrich, the guitarist for The Dead Daisies and former member of Whitesnake, Dio, and Revolution Saints, has expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support he received from fans during his recent battle with throat cancer. Aldrich underwent a “very successful” surgery after being diagnosed with the condition, which is treatable.
On Saturday, September 28th, Aldrich shared a photo of himself in a hospital bed along with a heartfelt message that Raiding The Rock Vault featured:
“Quick update… Hi guys, just wanted to reach out and say thank you so much for the prayers and well wishes. It really helped more than I can say. I had surgery on my neck and tonsil, and the surgery was very successful. The doctor is a superstar, and the team here is amazing… I feel good and hopefully will get to go home today to my family. I’m so grateful for you guys. Thank you so much.”
Earlier this week, The Dead Daisies released an announcement regarding Aldrich’s situation:
“Hi to all Daisies fans. We have some unfortunate news to share…
Doug has been diagnosed with a treatable throat cancer and had to undergo surgery this week. As a result, Doug will not be available for the upcoming shows, and his long-time friend and bandmate from the Whitesnake days, Reb Beach, will fill in for the European dates. Please join us in wishing Doug all the best for a speedy recovery.
We look forward to having him back on stage soon. We’ll keep you updated!”
On September 27th, Aldrich’s wife, Daniela “Danni” Aldrich, provided an update on her personal Facebook page:
“I just want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you who sent prayers, texts, and love for Doug. It truly meant the world to him to feel the outpouring of support. Your messages really lifted his spirits, and it made such a difference knowing how many people care about him.
All your prayers were heard! The surgery went incredibly well—five long hours with multiple steps—but Doug pushed through like the fighter he is. Even the nurse called him a superhero for his strength and determination right afterward! He is the strongest person I know.
It’s going to be a long road ahead, but Doug is strong, and he is so loved. We are beyond grateful for all of you standing by his side through this. As soon as he’s able, Doug will share more updates himself.
