Mugenkyo, Europe’s longest-running taiko drumming group, is bringing its UK tour to the Isle of Wight as part of its 30th-anniversary celebrations. Established in 1994, Mugenkyo will perform a special show at Medina Theatre on Friday, October 25, showcasing their signature “big beats” and “vital energy.”
The tour will take audiences on a journey through the group’s three-decade history, featuring theatrical performances, dynamic choreography, and immersive soundscapes. Known for their innovative approach to traditional Japanese drumming, Mugenkyo has performed internationally, earning a reputation for pushing the boundaries of the art form.
This marks their first major UK tour in nearly five years. During their hiatus, Mugenkyo was involved in various creative projects, including a collaboration with the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra on a project titled “World of Gods”. They also filmed scenes for the Hollywood movie “Tin Soldier” in Greece, featuring stars Jamie Foxx and Robert De Niro.
In 2024, Mugenkyo plans to continue thrilling audiences with performances described as “electrifying and uplifting.”
The group expressed their excitement about the upcoming tour, saying: “Join us in celebrating Mugenkyo’s landmark 30th anniversary with a special show featuring big beats, visual delights, and vital energy. As Europe’s longest-established taiko group, we are proud to be pioneers in this dynamic art form.”
