World Guitar Day was founded in 2021 by guitarist-composer and professor Yorgos Foudoulis, with the backing of UNESCO and other renowned international organizations. United Nations member states have designated October 18 as the day to celebrate this event globally, with the inaugural celebration taking place in 2021.
Institutions are encouraged to celebrate World Guitar Day in their own unique ways and may submit their event schedules to the coordination team for inclusion in the overall program. The celebration can also extend over several days, such as from October 15 to 20.
This day serves as a special occasion to honor the musicians who have influenced guitar music, recognize the vibrant spirit of the global guitar community, and inspire the next generation of guitarists.
