Jake E. Lee, Former Ozzy Osbourne Guitarist, Shares New Details on Shooting Incident

by Madonna

Jake E. Lee, the former guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne, has revealed more information about the shooting incident that left him injured last week.

On October 15, it was reported that Lee had been shot multiple times in Las Vegas, though he was expected to make a full recovery. At that time, there were no details about the incident, with local authorities considering it a random act of violence.

In a post on his band Red Dragon Cartel’s Facebook page on October 20, Lee provided further insight into the shooting. He explained that he was walking his dog, Coco, when the incident occurred: “A quick update: back home recuperating. A big thanks to those at Sunrise Hospital for taking such good care of me. And some brief details about that night. Walking home from our walk, Coco and I crossed paths with a couple of thieves.”

Lee described the assailants as “dressed darkly, with hoodies pulled down over their faces and masks covering their mouths,” and said they were standing in a neighbor’s driveway, examining a motorcycle. After a verbal confrontation, Lee stated, “We reached an agreement that I would walk one way, and they would walk the opposite. That didn’t work out.”

He also mentioned that he plans to discuss the incident in greater detail in the future.

A few days after the shooting, Lee confirmed that he had been shot three times, despite the assailant firing all 15 rounds at him. He explained, “The police found 15 shell casings at the scene, which means he emptied his clip on me. I could only dodge so many, so one bullet went through my forearm, another through my foot, and one in my back, which broke a rib and damaged a lung.”

Following the news of the shooting, Ozzy Osbourne expressed his shock at the incident: “It’s been 37 years since I’ve seen Jake E. Lee, but that still doesn’t take away from the shock of hearing what happened to him today. It’s just another senseless act of gun violence. I send my thoughts to him and his beautiful daughter, Jade. I just hope he’ll be OK.”

At that time, a spokesperson for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that “no arrests had been made.”

Lee played in Osbourne’s solo band from 1982 to 1987, contributing to the albums Bark At The Moon (1983) and The Ultimate Sin (1986). He also toured extensively with Osbourne.

Later, Lee joined the heavy metal band Badlands alongside former Black Sabbath member Ray Gillen. In 2013, he formed the group Red Dragon Cartel and has released music as a solo artist, including his debut album, A Fine Pink Mist, in 1996.
