by Madonna

Canada’s Gryphon Trio will open Chamber Music Kelowna’s (CMK) 2024-25 season on Saturday, October 26.

“Our original opening-night artists for CMK’s 45th season were to have been the Hermitage Piano Trio,” said CMK President Diane Bond. “Unfortunately, one of their members has fallen ill, and we were notified only 10 days prior to the show that they would not be able to perform in Kelowna.”

Artistic Director Dr. Patricia Tao shared that CMK reached out to the Gryphon Trio, as they were “warmly appreciated” during their last Kelowna concert in 2021. The Gryphon Trio consists of violinist Annalee Patipatanakoon, cellist Roman Borys, and pianist Jamie Parker.

Their repertoire encompasses a wide range from traditional to contemporary works, as well as European classical pieces and modern multimedia compositions. They are dedicated to redefining chamber music for the 21st century and have received three Juno Awards for Classical Album of the Year in 2004, 2011, and 2019. In 2013, the Gryphon Trio was honored with the Walter Carsen Prize for Excellence in the Performing Arts by the Canada Council for the Arts.
