This week, two talented saxophonists will take the stage in Bury to showcase their musical skills. Taisiia Holovko from Ukraine and João Correia from Portugal, both postgraduate students at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), formed the Contigo Saxophone Duo last year.
Holovko and Correia are pursuing master’s degrees at RNCM and share a passion for the classical saxophone. The name Contigo, Portuguese for “with you,” reflects the duo’s mission to create a deeper connection with their audience through music.
The duo is known for exploring various musical genres, from romantic compositions to modern classical pieces, incorporating advanced techniques like multiphonics and the altissimo register. Over the past year, they have performed at multiple concerts, displaying their unique style and technical proficiency.
Notably, they participated in a charity concert for Ukraine, using their music to support an important cause. Looking ahead, the Contigo Saxophone Duo is committed to continuing their collaboration and delivering captivating performances to diverse audiences.
Their upcoming performance will take place at Bury Parish Church in a lunchtime concert at 12:30 p.m. Tickets are £5 at the door, with refreshments available from 11:15 a.m.
