Jimmy Page, renowned as one of the most influential guitarists in history, has made an indelible mark on music alongside Led Zeppelin, inspiring countless musicians over the years. To celebrate Page’s legacy, Gibson, which is commemorating 130 years since its founding, has teamed up with the guitarist to produce a special edition guitar.
The American guitar manufacturer has announced the creation of two series: the Jimmy Page 1964 SJ-200 and the 1964 SJ-200 Collector Edition from Gibson Custom. The SJ-200 model was Page’s guitar of choice in the mid-1960s during the recording of Led Zeppelin’s debut album. He also played it during his appearance on the Julie Felix Show on April 26, 1970, performing “White Summer” and “Black Mountain Side.”
Few guitarists have influenced rock music as significantly as the legendary Jimmy Page. Gibson Custom noted in an Instagram post on Thursday, October 24, that during the recording of Led Zeppelin’s iconic first album, Page’s choice of acoustic guitar was the Gibson SJ-200, a distinctive instrument that can be heard on several tracks of that monumental record.
Adding to its exclusivity, only 50 units of the 1964 SJ-200 Collector Edition will be produced, along with 100 units of the Jimmy Page 1964 SJ-200, both available worldwide in limited quantities.
The limited edition Jimmy Page 1964 SJ-200 is handcrafted by expert luthiers and artistically polished by Murphy Lab in a Cherry Tea Sunburst finish. According to the official website, the Jimmy Page 1964 SJ-200 retails for $19,999, equivalent to approximately Rp311.5 million, while the other series is priced at $13,000, or around Rp202.4 million.
