PRS Guitars has announced the release of two new limited-edition models within its popular CE Family: the PRS CE 24-08 Black Limba Limited Edition and the PRS CE 24-08 Swamp Ash Limited Edition. These guitars combine striking aesthetics with high performance, thanks to their distinct body woods and adaptable pickup and electronics configurations.
The standout feature of these limited-edition guitars is their body wood. The black limba body boasts a rich, natural hue and delivers a powerful yet warm sound, while the swamp ash model showcases a more pronounced grain and is recognized for its balanced tonal qualities, featuring bright, articulate highs alongside a warm, defined low end.
“From time to time, we select woods from our inventory to craft special instruments, and these guitars are perfect examples of that,” remarked Paul Reed Smith, Founder and Managing General Partner of PRS Guitars. “The CE model has been part of our lineup since the early days of PRS. I’m excited to celebrate this model with new woods and introduce the ‘08’ switching system for the first time. These are true players’ guitars.”
Both the PRS CE 24-08 Black Limba and Swamp Ash Limited Edition guitars come equipped with a 24-fret, 25-inch scale maple neck and a rosewood fretboard. They also feature PRS 85/15 pickups, crafted by PRS in Stevensville, Maryland, which provide exceptional clarity and extended high and low-end response. Coupled with PRS’s innovative 24-08 switching system, these CE 24-08 models offer a vast range of tonal options through eight different pickup configurations, allowing seamless transitions from humbucking tones to crisp single-coil sounds. This marks the first use of this switching system on the PRS CE model platform, with the PRS patented tremolo bridge adding further versatility to the sound.
