A Romanian concert pianist has unofficially set a new Guinness World Record for the most piano notes played in 30 seconds, striking the highest note an impressive 500 times.
Thurzó Zoltán achieved this record-breaking feat in Biharia village, Romania, on October 23, marking a poignant moment a year after the passing of his mother, Thurzó Margit Terézia, who died on the same date in 2023.
While the sound produced was reminiscent of a jackhammer, Zoltán’s attempt is part of a broader trend, as others have also sought to hit as many notes as possible in a short time frame. The current official record is held by Japanese musician Keita Hattori, who managed to hit 495 keys in 30 seconds back in December 2023.
Zoltán is no stranger to record-setting achievements. He previously secured the Guinness World Record for the highest altitude piano performance, playing at an astonishing 19,024 feet. He also holds the record for the longest marathon of piano playing, clocking in at 130 hours.
Currently, Zoltán is in the process of submitting evidence of this latest attempt to Guinness World Records for official verification.
