The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) hosted a series of drum circles titled ‘Shalimar Sounds’ at Shalimar Gardens. This lively event featured expert drummers and Rubab players who captivated attendees with their musical talents. Additionally, the Balti cultural dance was showcased, performed to the rhythmic drumbeats. Over 500 people attended this engaging activity.
The drum circles aim to offer an entertaining experience while drawing attention to heritage sites. Attendees expressed positive feedback, noting that such events enhance the appeal of visits to these cultural landmarks.
Tania Qureshi, Director of Media and Marketing at WCLA, commented, “Drums have long been a vital part of our traditional celebrations, including weddings, Sufi gatherings, and sports fairs, making them one of the most popular musical instruments in our region.”
